Huma Qureshi aka Huma Saleem Qureshi is an Indian actress known for her performance in films, Gangs of Wasseypur – Part 1 (2012) and Gangs of Wasseypur – Part 2 (2012).
She belongs to a Muslim family and was born to a restaurateur, Saleem Qureshi and a homemaker, Ameena Qureshi on 28 July 1986 in New Delhi, India. She has three brothers, Saqib Saleem Qureshi (Actor), Haseen Qureshi, and Naeem Qureshi.
In 2007, her name was linked with Manoj Tanwar and in 2008, her name was linked with a businessman, Ibrahim Ansari.
After that, she had an affair with actor, Arjan Bajwa.
Huma Qureshi went to Gargi College in New Delhi for her bachelor’s degree in History Honours.
After graduation, she started learning acting under N.K. Sharma from Act 1 theatre group where she also worked as a theatre artist. She went to Mumbai in 2008 to try her luck in Bollywood industry and gave audition for a film, Junction but unfortunately, the film was not made. After that, Hindustan Unilever signed her for a two-year contract to feature in their TV commercials. Then, Huma Qureshi has featured in numerous TV commercials like Samsung Guru (with Aamir Khan), Mederma Cream, Vita Marie, Nerolac (with Shah Rukh Khan), Saffola Oil, Pears Soap, etc. After impressed with her acting in Samsung Guru mobile ad, she was signed for a three-film deal by director, Anurag Kashyap with his film production company, Anurag Kashyap Films.
She then made her Bollywood debut in 2012 with Anurag Kashyap’s film, Gangs of Wasseypur – Part 1, in which she played the role of Mohsina. The film was critically and commercially successful at the box office. In the same year, she played the same role of Mohsina in the part 2 of film, Gangs of Wasseypur and again, she received positive reviews and the film was sucessful at the box office. After that, she made her special appearance in song “Maintenance” of film, Trishna.
Other Bollywood films in which she acted are Luv Shuv Tey Chicken Khurana (2012), Ek Thi Daayan (2013), D-Day (2013), Dedh Ishqiya (2014), Badlapur (2015), Highway (2015), Jolly LLB 2 (2017), and Dobaara: See Your Evil (2017). She has also made her appearance in segment “Sujata” of film, Shorts (2013) and in segment “Knot” of film, X: Past Is Present (2015). Apart from that, she has also done a TV series, Upanishad Ganga (2012); a Malayalam film, White (2016); a English film, Viceroy’s House; and a Tamil film, Kaala (2018).
In 2016, she was featured in Rahat Fateh Ali Khan’s popular music video, Tumhe Dillagi. In 2017, she did a short film, Ek Dopahar, in which she played the role of Raina.
