Meghna Malik is an Indian actress who is popularly known for her role of Ammaji in the TV serial, Na Aana Is Des Laado that was aired on Colors TV.
She belongs to a Hindu family and was born on 3 October 1971 in Sonipat, Haryana, India. Her father, Dr. Raghuvir Singh Malik is a retired professor of English and her mother, Dr. Kamlesh Malik is a retired principal. She has a younger sister, Mimansa Malik who works as a senior anchor and producer with ZEE News.
On 19 November 2000, Meghna got married to actor, Riju Bajaj after being in a relationship for several years. The relationship didn’t go well and they divorced on 26 December 2011.
Meghna Malik went to Holy Child School in Sonipat for her primary schooling. She was the school captain of that school and was also the President of Old Students Association of the School.
She also went to Motilal Nehru School of Sports in Rai, Sonipat for her secondary schooling. During that, she won the Best Child Artiste award for her performance in the All India Cultural Programme which was held at Kamani Auditorium in New Delhi.
Meghna did her graduation from Maharshi Dayanand University in Rohtak. She received gold medal to stand first in the University. She also received gold medal in dancing and mono-acting in the Youth Festivals that was organized by the University.
She completed her Master of Arts (M.A.) in English Literature from the Kurukshetra University in Kurukshetra, Haryana. During that period, she won gold medal in Volley Ball. She also won the Best Actress award in the All India Competition which was held at Pathankot.
At the age of just 4, Meghna made her first appearance on stage during the Holy Child School’s cultural function where she holded a calendar picture of Subhash Chander Bose. She has also participated in a number of Lions Club events in Sonipat where her father served as the President and Secretary.
When she was 14, she received her first offer to act in a Haryanvi film. In 1995, Meghna Malik joined the National School of Drama (NSD) in New Delhi to get professional training in theatre. She also worked there as a professional artist from 1997 to 1999. In 2000, she left NSD and went to Mumbai to pursue her dream. In the same year, she got her first role in the TV serial, Bhanwar. She received huge fame with the TV serial, Na Aana Is Des Laado, in which she played the role of Bhagwani Devi/Ammaji Sangwan.
She has worked in several Bollywood films like Chalte Chalte (2003), Kuch Na Kaho (2003), Taare Zameen Par (2007), Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas (2019), etc. She has also featured in some TV commercials like Onida TV, Lacto King Parry’s Sweet, D’cold Rub, Punjab National Bank, etc.
In 2010, Meghna participated in the cooking reality show, Kitchen Champion where she was declared as the winner. She also participated in the Season 6 of dance reality show, Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa in 2013.
She also works as a theatre artist and has done numerous plays like Mummy (1995), Dilli Chalo (1998), Nirgunia (2002), Mr & Mrs Murarilal (2016), Mahabharat (2018), etc.
