Wamiqa Gabbi is an Indiian actress who rose to fame in 2013 with her debut Punjabi film, Tu Mera 22 Main Tera 22.
She belongs to a Hindu Punjabi family and was born to a Punjabi writer, Govardhan Gabbi and an educationist, Raj Kumari on 29 September 1993 in Chandigarh, India. She has a younger brother, Haardik Puran Gabbi who is an actor and musician.
She did her schooling from St. Xavier’s School in Chandigarh and graduation from D.A.V. College in Chandigarh.
Wamiqa Gabbi made her acting debut as a child artist with the Punjabi TV serial, Saude Dillan De. During her participation in one of the dance shows that was judged by Aamir Khan, she got the role of Geet’s cousin in the Bollywood film, Jab We Met (2007). In 2011, she played the role of Lala Durgadas’s daughter in the Bollywood film, Mausam.
In 2013, she got her first lead role of Tanisha in Raj Purohit’s Bollywood film, Sixteen. In the same year, she got huge fame when she played the lead role of Nikky, opposite, Yo Yo Honey Singh, Amrinder Gill, and Mandy Takhar in the Punjabi film, Tu Mera 22 Main Tera 22. After that, she has acted in several films in different languages like Ishq Brandy (Punjabi, 2014) as Kimmi, Bhale Manchi Roju (Telugu, 2015) as Sitha, Maalai Nerathu Mayakkam (Tamil, 2016) as Manoja, Godha (Malayalam, 2017) as Adithi Singh, Nikka Zaildar 2 (Punjabi, 2018) as Saawan Kaur, etc.
In 2015, Wamiqa did a short Punjabi film, Ishq Haazir Hai, in which she played the lead role of Simar, opposite Diljit Dosanjh.
In 2017, she was featured in Kulwinder Billa’s music video, Angreji Wali Madam.
